New signing Joel Randall comes straight into the thinking as Wanderers head to Rotherham in search of back-to-back wins on the road.

Late goals from Aaron Collins and Aaron Morley secured an unlikely comeback at Exeter last time out.

Randall could now have a part to play against the Millers following his switch from League One rivals Peterborough.

Team news

Kyle Dempsey is set to spend a “significant period” on the sidelines and likely won’t play again this season.

Wanderers had been waiting to learn the extent of the midfielder’s knee injury, having suffered a setback as he was closing in on a return to the pitch.

Josh Sheehan has been back on the grass and was set to return to full training on Friday ahead of the Rotherham trip.

Eoin Toal is also making positive progress on the injury front and should be back training next week.

As for the hosts, the fixture likely comes too soon for Sean Raggett and Christ Tiehi will not be in the squad after a bid was accepted from a club in Europe.

Opposition lowdown

Rotherham have had a tough first half of the season and currently sit 16th in the table despite being among the promotion favourites before a ball had been kicked.

But the Millers now seem to be heading in the right direction, with victory at Lincoln on New Year’s Day backed up by a hard-fought point at Huddersfield last weekend.

Steve Evans’ men could have taken all three points against the Terriers, with Mallik Wilks and Ben Wiles both going close.

Head-to-head

Wanderers have faced Rotherham 43 times in their history, with a record of nine wins, 14 draws and 20 defeats.

Ian Evatt’s men suffered a narrow defeat on their last trip to the New York Stadium in January 2022 despite Eoin Doyle’s goal.

The Millers have won the last three meetings between the sides. The Whites’ last win in the fixture was a 2-1 home victory in December 2018 thanks to goals from Sammy Ameobi and Gary O’Neil.
