Wanderers are back on the road in League One as they make the long trip to St James Park to take on Exeter.

Ian Evatt’s men are aiming to bounce back from a frustrating start to the year at Mansfield despite Aaron Collins’ goal.

That result left the Whites 10th in the table and five points off the play-off places, albeit with a couple of games in hand on sixth-place Barnsley.

Team news

Nathan Baxter is available for Wanderers. The shot stopper was on the bench at Mansfield after suffering a broken nose against Lincoln a few days prior.

However, Bolton will make a late call on Eoin Toal. The Northern Irish international started against the Imps but was absent from the squad at Field Mill.

Gethin Jones returned to the backline in his absence, slotting in alongside Ricardo Santos and George Johnston.

Aaron Morley has trained with the squad following his recall from Wycombe, having made a big impression at Adams Park.

Kyle Dempsey is still waiting to learn the severity of his knee injury and should know by next week if he has a chance of playing again this season.

Opposition lowdown

Exeter enter the fixture on the back of a last-gasp defeat at leaders Wycombe after Morley’s spot kick in stoppage time.

The Grecians had a decent spell over the festive period, including victories against Burton and Bristol Rovers.

Gary Caldwell’s side find themselves 13th in the table heading into the second half of the campaign, only outside the top half on goals scored.

Head-to-head

Wanderers have faced Exeter 18 times in competitive matches, with a record of eight wins, five draws and five defeats.

One of those losses came earlier this season when Kamari Doyle and Millenic Alli both struck at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The points were shared at St James Park last term, with Toal heading home the equaliser three minutes from time.
