The post-Ian Evatt era begins at Wanderers with a tough trip to Huddersfield Town in League One.

Tuesday night’s defeat against Charlton Athletic proved to be Evatt’s final in charge and Academy coaches Julian Darby, Andy Taylor and Andrew Tutte have now been placed in temporary charge.

Bolton enter the game ninth in the table and three points off the play-offs, although several clubs around them have games in hand.

Team news

Wanderers will make late calls on defensive duo Ricardo Santos and Eoin Toal’s involvement against the Terriers.

Santos had been playing through an injury and came off at half time against Cambridge. He was then absent from the squad in midweek.

Toal has only featured once since the end of October due to a hamstring issue, although the Northern Irish international joined in with full training ahead of the Charlton game.

The fixture comes too soon for Chris Forino, while Jay Matete has been handed a three-match ban for "violent conduct" against Charlton.

As for the hosts, Lasse Sorensen could be back in the squad but is unlikely to be involved from the off.

Opposition lowdown

Huddersfield currently sit fourth in the table – six points off the automatic promotion spots, with a game in hand.

The Terriers are on a 16-game unbeaten run in the league following last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Blackpool.

Dion Charles made his debut for the Yorkshire club at Bloomfield Road, getting 82 minutes under his belt.

Joe Taylor also made his first appearance after arriving from Luton and managed to get on the scoresheet early in the second half.

Head-to-head

Wanderers have faced Huddersfield 104 times in their history, with a record of 47 wins, 20 draws and 37 defeats.

The Whites were beaten 4-0 when the sides met at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in September. Josh Koroma bagged a brace, with Ben Wiles and Anthony Evans also getting on the scoresheet.

Bolton came out on top in the Vertu Trophy last month thanks to Klaidi Lolos and Aaron Collins’ quickfire double.
