Boro game at Portsmouth delayed due to medical emergency in the stands
Middlesbrough’s away game at Portsmouth has been delayed due to a medical emergency in the crowd.
The 3pm kick-off between Michael Carrick’s side and home team Pompey had to be delayed due to an incident in the home stands at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth FC posted to X: “There’s been a delay to kick-off at Fratton Park due to a medical emergency in the crowd.”
Boro added: “The start to today's game has been delayed due to an apparent medical incident in the home section of the crowd.
"Sending all of our thoughts and best wishes to the individual concerned."
The players were taken off the pitch seconds after kick off when the referee was alerted to the incident.
The teams returned from the dressing rooms and play resumed at 3.35pm.
The South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
