The Boro player whose career 'hasn't taken off' - and one who was 'shaky throughout'
How did the players fare in Middlesbrough's FA Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers?
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
4 Glover: Looked shaky on a number of occasions, and almost gave a goal away when his clearance was charged down
6 DIJKSTEEL: One of the few Boro players who was trying to be positive, even if a number of his breaks came to nothing
6 Edmundson: Generally defended well, although his distribution occasionally let him down
6 Clarke: Dealt with most crosses reasonably well, and was perhaps unfortunate his clearance fell to Weimann for the goal
5 Engel: Couldn’t get onto the front foot and contribute to Boro’s attacking, and struggled against Weimann
4 Barlaser: Took the safe option on far too many occasions – needed to be far more positive
6 McCabe: Looked at home on the first-team stage as he grew into the game after a somewhat subdued start
4 Hamilton: Didn’t really impact the game before he was substituted – his career as a Boro player is yet to take off
6 Gilbert: One of Boro’s brighter performers – came close with a second-half shot that was tipped over
5 McGree: Dragged a first-half shot wide, but was never really a factor in the Blackburn 18-yard box
4 Burgzorg: Never really looked like scoring – has looked much more effective out wide than playing through the middle
Subs:
5 Forss (for Hamilton, 65): Wasn’t really a factor, but Boro will pleased to see him back in the fold
Latte Lath (for McGree, 75)
Hackney (for McCabe, 75)
(not used): Connor (gk), van den Berg, Fry, McCormick, Matthews, Palmer.
BLACKBURN (4-2-3-1):
Toth 7; Brittain 6, HYAM 8, Batth 8, Beck 6; Tronstad 6, Buckley 7; Rankin-Costello 7, Cantwell 6 (Dolan 81), Weimann 7 (O’Grady-Macken 90); Leonard 6 (Gueye 81).
Subs (not used): Pears (gk), McFadzean, Litherland, Pratt, Dunn, Tyjon.
Man Of The Match: DOMINIC HYAM – The Blackburn centre-half did not give Boro’s forwards a sniff of a goal all afternoon.
