Bournemouth vs Liverpool LIVE!

Liverpool moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 4-0 demolition of Bournemouth that extended their unbeaten league run to 14 games on Sunday. The visitors were frustrated in a cagey first half of few goal-scoring chances but found a higher gear after the break with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both scoring twice.

Nunez made it 1-0 in the 49th minute after a slick passing move carved up Bournemouth's defence and the influential Jota put the game out of reach of the hosts with two clinical finishes in the 70th and 79th minutes. Uruguayan Nunez put the seal on a dominant Liverpool display with his second goal in stoppage time.

Liverpool have 48 points from 21 games with champions Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa on 43 points. City do have a game in hand of Jurgen Klopp's side. Bournemouth are in 12th place with 25 points. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog.

18:18 , Alex Young

86min: A sad sight for Aarons as he is forced off with an injury having only today returned.

GOAL!

18:09 , Alex Young

80min: A stunning performance from Jota as he fires home another. He miscues his first shot, the Bournemouth fans laugh but are quickly silenced as Jota drills a second effort beyond Neto.

18:05 , Alex Young

75min: Bournemouth have reacted well to the second goal, twice Solanke getting into space in the area but the final pass is still letting them down.

GOAL!

17:59 , Alex Young

70min: Finish! That should be that as Jota fires inside Neto's near post to double Liverpool's lead.

17:58 , Alex Young

69min: Kluivert makes way for Brooks. Bournemouth need a spark.

17:52 , Alex Young

63min: Gravenberch and Gakpo are on, Elliott and Diaz are off.

17:49 , Alex Young

59min: Bournemouth just cannot get out at the moment. Solanke as busy as ever without getting foot on ball.

17:44 , Alex Young

55min: Scott and Kelly are coming on. Sinisterra and Hill make way.

17:43 , Alex Young

54min: It should be 2-0! Nunez dinks a glorious ball to the back post but youngster Bradley mistimes the header with the goal gaping!

17:41 , Alex Young

52min: Corner comes to nothing ... and Liverpool storm up the other end, and Jota goes down in the area! Is that a penalty? It looked dubious and VAR say no.

17:39 , Alex Young

51min: Straight up the other end, Kluivert's effort is deflected behind.

GOAL!

17:38 , Alex Young

49min: That's more like it! Nunez breaks the deadlock with a fine, sweeping finish from Jota's slipped pass.

Second half!

17:34 , Alex Young

46min: Back underway! No changes.

17:29 , Alex Young

I wonder if Klopp will change things up at the break. There's not too much on his bench.

17:23 , Alex Young

Not a first half that will live long in the memory, I'm afraid. Liverpool cannot seem to find that final pass, while Bournemouth can't seem to find Solanke.

A combined xG of 0.28.

Half-time!

17:17 , Alex Young

48min: That half felt twice as long.

17:17 , Alex Young

46min: Two minutes added on.

17:15 , Alex Young

44min: Bournemouth are creating chances and Solanke is inches away from a fine Kluivert pass across the face of goal but cannot get the touch.

17:13 , Alex Young

42min: Aarons comes off worse from a challenge with Gomez. A chance for Bournemouth from the free kick.

17:09 , Alex Young

38min: Half a chance for Nunez as Jota looks to find the forward inside the area but the pass is behind his stretching leg. Poor.

17:08 , Alex Young

36min: Diaz will be fine.

17:06 , Alex Young

35min: Diaz is now down after a very late tackle by Kluivert. He looks in agony.

17:06 , Alex Young

34min: So much passing as Bournemouth chase shadows, only to end up with Diaz having a tame effort at goal.

17:02 , Alex Young

30min: Nunez goes for the spectacular volley inside the area, completely mistimes the effort and then falls over.

16:58 , Alex Young

27min: Van Dijk climbs highest but cannot direct a header on target.

16:57 , Alex Young

26min: Liverpool somewhat turning the screw. Nunez forces a corner...

16:56 , Alex Young

24min: First shot on target! Nunez tries his luck from 25 yards and it's straight down Neto's throat.

16:54 , Alex Young

20min: Liverpool struggling with their crossing today. Three times now a ball from deep is just sent straight out of play.

16:49 , Alex Young

17min: Better from Tavernier on the right this time, switching it to Sinisterra in space on the opposite flank... but then a searching ball for Solanke is cut out.

16:45 , Alex Young

13min: Liverpool seeing more of the ball at the moment, but there really is not too much going on at the moment!

16:43 , Alex Young

10min: Oh dear, Tavernier! Solanke is racing through the centre and has the Liverpool back line on their heels, but Tavernier gets his pass all wrong and the move breaks down.

16:40 , Alex Young

7min: Bournemouth are not giving Liverpool a second on the ball, in the rare moments the visitors actually get a foot on it. An impressive start by the hosts.

16:35 , Alex Young

4min: A slow start from Liverpool, not for the first time this season. The hosts on top in these early stages.

16:32 , Alex Young

2min: Bournemouth out the traps quickly, forcing an early corner as Solanke puts Konate under pressure.

Iraola responds to Klopp praise

16:11 , Alex Young

"I appreciate the words, it’s good to hear, especially considering who has said these things.

“What can I say about Jürgen? He is top level and they are doing really well this season.

"They have been the same kind of team you imagine when you face Liverpool – a top pressing team and you cannot rest against them.

“They are very good in transitions and in organised attacks. They have different options and they use different structures, with players inside and outside.

“There are a lot of things to prepare when you face them and I hope we are ready."

15:59 , Alex Young

A big day for Darwin, who scored a corker at this ground earlier this season but has just one goal since November.

He may be playing out on the left these days, but they are miserable numbers for a £80million striker.

Team news

15:44 , Alex Young

It's three changes for Bournemouth from the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on New Year's Eve as James Hill, Chris Mepham and Max Aarons come in for Dango Ouattara, Marcos Senesi and Adam Smith in defence.

Lloyd Kelly is back but only fit enough for the bench.

It's four changes for Liverpool. Conor Bradley makes his first Premier League start with Trent Alexander-Arnold injured, while Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Alexis Mac Allister also come in.

Mohamed Salah is, of course, at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Iraola aware of tough Liverpool test

15:01 , Alex Young

Andoni Iraola insists Bournemouth must be at their best to beat Premier League leaders Liverpool today.

The Cherries have won seven and drawn one of their last nine games in all competitions as Iraola's side have sped away from relegation danger.

However, Liverpool have beaten Bournemouth twice this season, 3-1 in the Premier League at Anfield in August and 2-1 in a Carabao Cup tie at the Vitality Stadium at the start of November.

Bournemouth boss Iraola said: "I'm quite happy with the two games we played against Liverpool, especially the second one in the Carabao Cup.

"But even then we were not even able to tie the game.

"We have to be at our best because they are at the top of the league and the most in-form team.

"If we want to beat them it's not enough to be at our level, we have to be really good because it takes a lot to win these games."

Score prediction

14:48 , Alex Young

The Reds are missing key players but it would be a shock not to see them pick up three points here.

Liverpool to win, 2-1.

Liverpool refreshed and raring to go

14:41 , Alex Young

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his team have returned refreshed from their mini-break and are ready to push on in the Premier League title race.

They returned to training on Wednesday - a week after their last game - and head to Bournemouth looking to extend their advantage at the top to five points.

While they will still be missing talisman Mohamed Salah, who is at the Africa Cup of Nations, and are waiting for the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai to return from injury, Klopp believes everyone benefited from a break from the intensity of the Premier League.

"Friday was the third session since we are back and you could see it was really important to everybody, for everybody," he said.

"As much as they like going on holiday, the thing they like most is actually playing football and that's really cool to see.

"Nobody wanted to have three or four weeks, we are in the middle of a season (and) we love what happened so far.

"We are looking forward to what's coming up, but these four days were just top class. We had a break and now we can go for the rest of the season."

Liverpool team news

14:21 , Alex Young

Liverpool remain without a number of important players today.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has lost both Mohamed Salah - now out with a hamstring issue suffered at the tournament with Egypt - and Wataru Endo to the Africa Cup of Nations and Asian Cup respectively, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has a knee injury.

Andy Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Kostas Tsimikas and Joel Matip are all long-term absentees.

Dominik Szoboszlai will also miss the game at Bournemouth but there is hope that he could return in the Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg tie against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday, alongside both Alexander-Arnold and Robertson.
