Aston Villa forward Louie Barry has completed his loan move to Hull City for a fee of £1m.

The 21-year-old will spend the remainder of the campaign playing in the Championship under Ruben Selles. Barry had plenty of interest in the winter window, but Villa felt a move to Hull would aid his development best.

Villa winger Jaden Philogene impressed with Hull last season after the Tigers signed him permanently. Villa then re-signed the winger last summer after he scored 12 goals and recorded six assists in 32 league appearances.

Barry was recalled by Villa at the start of January after his stunning first half of the season at Stockport County in League One. He scored 15 goals in 23 games and left the division as the top scorer ahead of Birmingham City’s Jay Stansfield.

It was his second successful spell at Stockport after he spent the duration of the 2023/24 season there and registered 13 goal contributions in 20 League Two appearances. He missed a chunk of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

Hull are sitting in 19th position in the Championship, two points outside the drop zone after 29 games. They are 15 points off the play-off positions, which is what they competed for last season.
