Mikel Arteta confirms new Arsenal injury blow after positive double return
Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori. The duo were spotted in training at London Colney on Tuesday ahead of Arsenal's clash against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
However, unfortunately for the Gunners, they will be without Lewis-Skelly at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, having suffered a knock. Speaking on TNT Sports ahead of the tie, Arteta was quizzed on the Hale End graduate's omission from the matchday squad.
The Spaniard said: "He could not finish the training session yesterday unfortunately. He had an incident during the match against Aston Villa and he wasn't feeling right yesterday so he could not finish the session."

Then, on Calafiori, who has returned to the bench after a brief period on the sidelines, Arteta added: "The same with Ricci as well, he only trained 20 minutes yesterday. Adapt again like we have done all season and have some freshness in the team which i think is important as well."
Ethan Nwaneri has also been named in the matchday squad. Speaking to reporters ahead of the Champions League clash, Arteta was asked to provide an update on William Saliba, who appeared to suffer a hamstring injury towards the end of the North London Derby.
"I think he's evolving well," said the Arsenal boss. "The last few days, he was feeling much better already, but this game comes a little bit too early for him."
On whether Bukayo Saka, who was recently spotted without crutches, could return to action ahead of schedule, Arteta said: "No, that is not going to change. We have done the process, and the time we had, and that phase has gone now.
"He is doing really well and he is feeling better day-by-day, but we have to respect the healing process and he obviously still has a lot of stages to go through in his rehab."
Then, on the significance of finishing in the top eight of the Champions League – which earns automatic qualification to the round of 16 – Arteta added: "Yeah, obviously, so far, we've done really well. We're in a really strong position, and now we try to capitalise at home, you know, the way that we've done for many months.
"So we need a strong performance tomorrow against a really good side and we'll try to get it," added the Gunners boss. "My thinking is, let's do what we have to do first, which is always difficult because we're talking about the Champions League and, I mean, we managed to do that, obviously we'll have the best ideas on the table to make the right decision."
