Tottenham have confirmed that defender Radu Dragusin will need surgery after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his left knee. It will see him miss the remainder of the season.

Dragusin suffered the injury whilst playing for Spurs in their 3-0 away win over Elfsborg in the Europa League last week. Since then they took action to replace him in the transfer market, signing Kevin Danso.

The 26-year-old has joined on loan for the rest of the season but will make his move to north London permanent in the summer. With issues for Cristian Romero and more pressingly Micky van de Ven once more, Danso was not the extent of Tottenham's recruitment plans.

They tried to bring in Chelsea's Axel Disasi on a short-term loan as well only to see him agree a late deal with Aston Villa. A bid was also made in the final few days to buy Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Although Tottenham have not confirmed when Dragusin will be back in training, ACL injuries usually require around nine months of total rehabilitation.

Dragusin, himself, arrived at Spurs in a January transfer window. He was signed just over 12 months ago but has struggled to make himself a regular under Postecoglou.

Fitness issues across the squad had seen him take up a place in the starting XI since November, though. He is a Romania international.

Tottenham, in place of Van de Ven and Romero, have turned to using nominal left-back Ben Davies and even Archie Gray in the heart of defence. Van de Ven was left out of the squad for Sunday's 1-0 win over Brentford but could return later this week to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
