Daniel Farke says he is not concerned about Brenden Aaronson becoming fatigued this season, with Leeds United currently possessing no direct back-up at number 10.

The Whites boss has said he is conscious that he is banking on Aaronson not getting injured but believes he has ample options to cover in the area if this comes to pass. Farke indicated that his recruitment team had identified a number of no.10 options but none ticked “all the boxes”.

Farke outlined towards the end of the window that he only wanted a recruit from the winter market if he was of good enough quality, was of great character and affordable. None managed to pass his high bar.

Asked about whether he was worried about Aaronson being fatigued given the 24-year-old has begun each of the last 28 Championship matches, the United manager replied: “Fatigue not, because Brenden can play each and every game. I have to stop him sometimes, he's like a bee.

“He’s so full of energy that you have to make sure energy does not come out of both of his ears and not be too hectic at times. Sometimes I have to make him relax a bit more. I’m never concerned about Brenden’s energy. It’s more like channeling his energy.

“What you can’t predict is there is always the possibility of booking suspensions - perhaps an offensive player like Brenden not so much - but also the possibility of injury. You can never guarantee [this won’t happen].”

On his no.10 transfer plans, Farke added: “I spoke so openly about if there is a player with the right quality and a player who can give us another specialist in the number 10 position, we will do this [transfer].

“But it’s not that easy to find that player in January who has those qualities and is also affordable. In the end, not all the boxes were ticked and for that yes, we go with what we've got.

“Of course we need a little bit of luck that [Aaronson] stays fit and in shape, with no injuries. If something happens we have players - perhaps not specialists - but who can shine in this role and even adapt in the way we play if we have to. My big wish is that Brenden stays in great shape and avoids injuries.”
