Cheltenham Town have agreed a loan deal for Brentford forward Ashley Hay, Gloucestershire Live understands.

The 21-year-old will be with the Robins until the end of the season.

He was formerly in Luton Town's academy along with spells at non-league clubs Baldock Town, Biggleswade Town and Hitchin.

Hay, who has previously worked at McDonald's, gave up his job as a plumber to join Brentford in September 2023 after a successful trial.

He is known for his aerial ability and pace, along with an impressive scoring record for the Bees' B team this term. He was joint top scorer for them last season with nine.

His contract at the Premier League club runs until the summer of 2026.

Cheltenham, who play Notts County at home on Sunday afternoon, have also agreed to sign a right-back on a permanent basis.

Michael Flynn's side play Port Vale away on New Year's Day before hosting leaders Walsall on January 4, which is when any new signings will first be able to feature.
