Cheltenham Town have signed left-sided defender or winger Val Adedokun on loan from Brentford until the end of the season.

The Dublin-born 21-year-old trained with his new club on Tuesday morning, which involved an 11 v 11 match at Bishop's Cleeve's Kayte Lane.

Adedokun signed for Brentford B in August 2021 after an impressive spell with Dundalk FC, who he joined from Malahide United in 2017.

He is primarily a left-back or left wing-back, known for his speed, aggression and skill. He has captained Brentford B, winning their Player of the Year award last season, and he has also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level.

He played a pivotal role in the young Bees’ Premier League Cup triumph in 2022/23, playing and starting all 10 games, culminating in a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers Under-21s in the final at Gtech Community Stadium.

Adedokun has been on loan at Hungarian top flight club Diósgyőr, making one start and two substitute appearances before suffering an injury that saw him return to his parent club for rehabilitation in December.

He will become the Robins' third January addition after right-back Darragh Power and loan forward Ashley Hay, who is also from Brentford.

Cheltenham play fifth-placed AFC Wimbledon away in League Two on Saturday (3pm).
