Cheltenham Town have completed the loan signing of Ashley Hay from Brentford.

The 21-year-old has scored 14 goals in 15 games for the Bees' B team this season, including hat-tricks against Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers.

He also netted braces against Millwall and Bournemouth, as well as two against Chelsea in the Premier League Cup group stage in September.

Hay joined Brentford B on Deadline Day in the summer of 2023, making the move from Hitchin Town.

His arrival at Brentford followed a standout season with the Southern Premier Division Central side during the 2022/23 campaign, where he netted 11 goals.

Brentford B team head coach Neil MacFarlane said on the move: “Ash came to us from Hitchin Town and we saw some excellent qualities we felt we could develop and, over a sustained period of time, we have worked together to put him in the best possible position to go and succeed on loan.

“He is currently in fantastic form and has been a huge part of the success the B team has had so far this season in particular. He is a fantastic pressing forward, a real threat in and around the box, and is in great goalscoring form.

“I’m delighted for Ash as he is a terrific character with an outstanding work ethic. He will be a great addition to the Cheltenham squad and we wish them both the best in the new year.”

Hay becomes Cheltenham's second January signing after right-back Darragh Power, whose arrival from Waterford on an 18-month deal was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

Cheltenham play Port Vale away on New Year's Day (3pm), but the two new additions will not be eligible until Saturday's home match against leaders Walsall (12.30pm).
