Liverpool XI vs Brentford: Confirmed team news, starting XI and injury latest for Premier League today

Liverpool do not have Cody Gakpo available for today’s Premier League trip to Brentford.

After officially joining with the opening of the January transfer window, the Dutch forward has not played competitively since his country’s World Cup exit over three weeks ago but Jurgen Klopp suggested there was a possibility he could be involved against the Bees.

However, he is not involved this evening and instead will likely make his debut against Wolves on the weekend in the FA Cup.

Roberto Firmino sat out the last game due to a knock which Klopp played down as not a “major injury”, but he is not named in the squad while Jordan Henderson also misses out entirely.

Fabinho returns having missed the win over Leicester due to the birth of his child and starts in midfield, while Ibrahima Konate partners Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence.

Liverpool have Harvey Elliott fit and he gets the nod over Naby Keita, but Andrew Robertson, who was forced off with injury against Leicester, is on the bench as Kostas Tsimikas starts.

Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Arthur Melo are longer-term absentees.

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Keita, Jones, Robertson, Carvalho, Matip, Bajcetic, Phillips
