Brereton Diaz ends goal drought with winner for Sheffield United
LOANED-OUT forward Ben Brereton Diaz ended his goal-drought with a winner for promotion-chasing Sheffield United at Derby.
The Chile international turned in at the back post to score his first goal since joining Southampton from Villareal in the summer.
Brereton Diaz failed to score in 13 appearances for Southampton before returning to Sheffield United for a second stint.
His goal ensured victory and keeps the Blades on the heels of leaders Leeds United, who have been linked with Cameron Archer this week.
This was Derby’s seventh-straight league defeat – the club’s worst run since that 2007/08 season.
Southampton are now within two points of Derby’s record-low (11) Premier League points total after victory at Ipswich Town.
