Brisbane Broncos respond to London Broncos takeover talks with clear statement
Brisbane Broncos have shut down reports linking them with a takeover of London Broncos. The NRL club has been linked with a move to invest in the club since Sun Sport reported that the Australian giants were looking to take a stake in the club.
Brisbane, who previously invested in London before the takeover of Richard Branson, were said to have been involved in a deal alongside Leeds Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington, who has been brokering a deal.
However, speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the club's CEO, Dave Donaghy, and chairman Karl Morris, have both shut down those suggestions.

Donaghy said: “I’m aware of interest from English clubs seeking investment from their Australian counterparts but to be clear, ownership of a UK club is not something the Brisbane Broncos are considering right now.”
Morris added: “It’s the first I’ve heard of it. I understand there are people (linked to the Super League) in Australia. There is zero interest from us in an international football franchise.”
On Monday, Hetherington did confirm that he had been assisting the Broncos in takeover talks.
“Following recent media speculation regarding my role in supporting London Broncos and their need for a new ownership model, I can confirm that following a request from the London club, and supported by our Chairman Paul Caddick, I have given assistance to London in an effort to secure their long-term future and the future for professional Rugby League in London and the South East of England.
“Those who know me, know I have always been passionate about growing our game and I personally believe that having a sustainable team in the nation's capital is important, so I was happy to lend my advice and experience to Jason Loubser and his team at the Broncos. I been fortunate throughout my career to have built up strong relationships with people across the game and especially in Australia."
However, it would appear the Broncos are not included in those discussions.
