Bristol City player ratings vs Oxford United as nine-man Robins secure battling away point
Max O'Leary - 5
Having done so well to keep things level until the second half, the Bristol City stopper just appeared to watch as Gregory Leigh's shot dribbled into the bottom corner. All his good work was undone in that moment but unfortunately, that's the life of a goalkeeper.

Luke McNally - 7
Got a pass all wrong early on which gifted the home side their first chance of the game, but worked hard at the back and seemingly got his head on everything he could. Produced several important blocks in the second half as well and would have deserved a clean sheet.
Rob Dickie - 6
Like O'Leary, the centre-back did an awful lot right at The Kassam Stadium, but he did seem to dummy his keeper slightly by sticking out a leg as Leigh's opener found the bottom corner. Other than that, however, he was a commanding presence at the back throughout against his former side and played a crucial role in the draw.
Zak Vyner - 6
A few loose touches meant that he put himself under pressure, particularly in the first half, but his recovery pace got City out of trouble on one or two occasions. Headed plenty clear in the second half and was constantly involved when the Reds needed him. Not his best display, but did what was needed of him.
Ross McCrorie - 4
Once again, Liam Manning deployed him at left wing-back and he had a mixed afternoon. He picked up an early booking that made it a difficult game for him up against Przemyslaw Placheta. Couldn't argue with his second yellow as he went steaming into Ciaron Brown to make life harder for the Robins.
Jason Knight - 7
Considering the fact his midfield partner was sent off so early on in proceedings, the Reds' skipper worked incredibly hard to ensure the battle in the middle of the park remained competitive. A real captain's performance that fans have come to expect from the Ireland international.
Joe Williams - 4
Was it a red card? Perhaps it was a tad harsh but Williams gave Oliver Langford an easy decision to make as he went flying into Will Vaulks inside the Oxford half for no real reason. He can be such a good player, as he showed against Blackburn last weekend, but he needs to cut out those sort of rash decisions out of his game sooner rather than later.
Mark Sykes - 8
Started brightly as he picked out Nahki Wells with a smart cross and strong run. Came close to scoring against his former side when he sent Jamie Cumming scrambling in the second half and then made up for that one with an excellent strike just a matter of minutes later. He's making that wing-back position his own.
George Earthy (off for Marcus McGuane, 79') - 5
Handed a first start of 2025 and got into some good areas without really managing to impact the game. Could have broken the deadlock early on had his touch been better and ended up forced into a deeper role following Williams' red card. Should and perhaps could have given Manning's side the win when slipped through late on.
Scott Twine - 5
Having shone against Blackburn last time out, the attacking midfielder struggled to get involved in the first half against United. Played a couple of smart passes to link things together, but his set-piece delivery left a lot to be desired before he was replaced by Manning at the break.
Nahki Wells (off for Sinclair Armstrong, 46) - 6
Had the Robins' best chance of the first half as he rose well to get his head on Sykes' cross but couldn't steer it goalward. Did what he could to lead the line with little service and was perhaps unlikely to be replaced at half-time.
Substitutes:
Max Bird - 7
Picked up the assist for Sykes' goal and added a bit of control in the middle of the park that proved to be very important.
Sinclair Armstrong (off for George Tanner, 90+1) - 7
Considering the situation he was introduced into, he did a great job for the team in and out of possession and even won the free-kick that led to City's leveller.
Marcus McGuane - N/A
George Tanner - N/A
