Bristol Rovers confirm third deadline day addition with extra cover for goalkeeping department
Bristol Rovers have confirmed the loan signing of goalkeeper Myles Roberts from Watford, following the announcement that Jed Ward had been recalled from his loan spell at Forest Green Rovers after Josh Griffiths returned to West Brom.
Deadline day has ended up being a saga of the goalkeepers for the Gas who were alerted by the Baggies' intention to recall Griffiths on Monday morning after they had agreed a deal to sell first-choice Alex Palmer to Ipswich Town.
That has caused a ripple effect, leading to Ward being recalled from Forest Green with Roberts a surprise addition to add further cover alongside Matt Hall.

Roberts, 23, has spent the first half of this season loan loan at Partick Thistle in the Scottish Championship. He started his career at Reading and enjoyed loan spells at Wealdstone and Tonbridge Angels. He then joined Watford in January 2020 and earned regular football on loan in the National League South with Concord Rangers in the 2021/22 campaign before doing the same at Welling United the following season.
The goalkeeper played 19 games for Partick Thistle, keeping eight clean sheets before being recalled to feature in the Hornets' first-team squad. However, he is yet to make a senior appearance for the Championship side.
It is currently unclear whether Roberts or Ward is intended to replace Griffiths as first-choice at the Mem but the deal should offer the Gas more cover in between the sticks.
