Bristol Rovers midfielder and former AFC Wimbledon and Shrewsbury Town loanee Luke McCormick set to join Forest Green Rovers on loan deal
Forest Green Rovers are set to complete the loan signing of Bristol Rovers midfielder Luke McCormick until the end of the season according to reports.
The 25-year-old has made 19 League One appearances this season for the Gas and has started in eight of them also adding two goals to his tally in that time against Peterborough United and Mansfield Town.
The midfielder has previously had loan spells with Shrewsbury Town and AFC Wimbledon after graduating through Chelsea’s academy system.
McCormick would link up with fellow Bristol Rovers loanee, Jed Ward, if a deal is to be completed. Ward has also started in every National League fixture for Forest Green so it is clear to see a well-worked relationship by the two clubs.
He has typically played as an attacking or central midfielder in his time with Rovers and would provide more competition across the three-man midfield that Forest Green typically operate in.
Since Iñigo Calderón’s appointment at the end of December, McCormick has only started in one game out of four in all competitions, but has appeared on the bench in the other three.
Forest Green Rovers declined to comment on the rumour when contacted by Gloucestershire Live.
Rovers are in league action against Rochdale at home on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
