Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Wrexham: Promise Omochere and Luke Thomas shine in draw
Bristol Rovers secured a well-earned point at home to promotion-chasing Wrexham in their first game since parting ways with Matt Taylor as substitute Promise Omochere headed home a late equaliser.
A tricky start for the Gas saw them eventually fall behind as Wrexham made their quality count. One well-placed through ball from ex-Bristol City midfielder Matty James cut through the entire Rovers backline to put Elliot Lee in a one-on-one posiiton who then slotted past Josh Griffiths calmly.
The visitors could've added to their advantage with chances falling to James McClean and Andy Cannon but the Gas managed to survive.
A double change at half-time for the hosts as Omochere and Joel Senior replaced Scott Sinclair and Taylor Moore which offered improvement in the final third.
An excellent delivery from Joel Senior was picked up by Luke Thomas who then floated a perfect ball to the backpost for Omochere to head into the net, securing the point.
On an afternoon with mixed performances, here's how we rated the Gas players...

Josh Griffiths - 6
Didn't actually have a great deal to do in the end. Couldn't have done a great deal about the goal and did enough when he had to clear the ball.
Taylor Moore (off for Joel Senior 46') - 4.5
The defender is still playing below his own standards and didn't look to be brimming with confidence but right wing-back is obviously not his position. One moment where he had players ahead of him in good positions but instead opted to go backwards and play a ball to Josh Griffiths which received pretty loud boos.
James Wilson - 6.5
Some important defensive moments and tried to offer support when Rovers had the ball closer to the Wrexham goal.
Connor Taylor - 6.5
Rovers' best centre-back of many on the day. Caught out early by Elliot Lee but went on to have a pretty solid game, considering the physical profile of Wrexham's strikers.
Michael Forbes (off for Luke Thomas 22') - N/A
The young defender was right in the mix from the off, subject to a scuffle with Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer within the first minute. He made some good blocks but ultimately came off early with a hamstring issue.
Clinton Mola (off for Shaq Forde 80') - 5
An improved second half but it wasn't difficult after a poor first. Once again the defender was responsible for cheap giveaways that led to dangerous moves, the worst of each he actually made up for really well with a crunching tackle.
Kamil Conteh - 6.5
Some excellent moments in the middle. Could have done better in a few offensive moments but continues to go under the radar.
Jamie Lindsay - 6.5
Battled in the middle, setting the tone right at the start by charging a Wrexham man down and going for a slide tackle in the penalty area. Much improved after some difficult displays lately.
Luke McCormick (off for Isaac Hutchinson 73') - 6
An improved second half display, working his socks off. Just didn't see the ball fall to him how he would've liked.
Scott Sinclair (off for Promise Omochere 46') - 5
His eyes would have lit up once or twice but ultimately had very little to work with. Came off at half-time alongside Moore which is never a good sign.
Chris Martin - 6
Some promising link up moments with Omochere in the second half and battled for balls but ultimately didn't have as good a sniff at goal as he would've liked.
Substitutes
Luke Thomas (on 22') - 7
Wouldn't have expected to play the majority of the match but an opportunity arose and he took it. Admittedly, a few touches he'll be frustrated with but ultimately battled hard and offered quality in the final third, setting up the equaliser.
Joel Senior (on 46') - 6
Added more quality on the right and put in a cracking ball that ended up setting up the moment that got a point for Rovers.
Promise Omochere (on 46') - 8
The hero of the game. Added much-needed physical presence at the top end of the pitch and was in the right place at the right time to net the equaliser.
Isaac Hutchinson (on 73') - 6
Came on and did well. Probably deserved a bit more time on the pitch.
Shaq Forde (on 80') - N/A
Looked bright when he came on and could well have carved out a winning goal.
