Bristol Rovers sack Matt Taylor in latest managerial departure on busy weekend
Bristol Rovers were the latest club to sack their manager, with Matt Taylor relieved of his duties this morning.
The former Rotherham United chief arrived in December 2023 and the Pirates finished 15th in League One last season.
At the 19 game stage this campaign, the Gas sit 20th with just six wins, losing 1-0 at Reading in October.
Ahead of a busy festive schedule with four matches between now and January 1, the trigger was pulled on Taylor's position while sat two points clear of the relegation zone.
David Horseman and Lee Cattermole will take charge on an interim role.
This weekend proved a busy period for club's looking to change manager, with the likes of Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Oxford United also sacking their bosses following defeats.
Reading do not travel to the Memorial Stadium until April, the final away match of the 2024/25 season.
In April of 2024, the Royals won in Bristol as Taylor was beaten in both of his fixtures against the club while in charge of Rovers.
