Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has interacted with Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres after the forward continued his fine goalscoring form for Sweden.

The Sporting striker bagged the opener in Sweden's 2-1 win over Slovakia in the Nations League on Saturday with Newcastle's Alexander Isak scoring the winner. Gyokeres has been in sensational form for his domestic club since Ruben Amorim signed him from Coventry City for £20m.

So far, the striker has managed 66 goals in just 68 appearances and such form has led to rumours that Amorim may look to reunite with his talisman at Old Trafford. Should he wish to do so, it is unlikely to be in the January transfer window with the 39-year-old United boss already pledging not to raid the Lisbon club this winter.

However, a move next summer could be a possibility with rumours suggesting a gentleman's agreement is in place for Gyokeres to leave for around £63m should he stay in Portugal for the remainder of the season. After scoring his 11th goal for Sweden, the striker posted a short message on Instagram thanking his nation and international teammates.

In a show of support, Fernandes liked the post suggesting he is keeping tabs on Gyokeres' career. While a nice gesture, it may not necessarily be a sign of Gyokeres' impending arrival in Manchester.

Fernandes is a self-proclaimed fan of Sporting and does try to watch them as often as possible when in the UK. Meanwhile, at United, Amorim is focused on Sunday when he will make his debut as manager for the Reds as they visit Ipswich Town.

The new Reds boss has taken training for the first time, leaving a number of United stars impressed.
