Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has claimed he is not happy with the result against Liverpool as they need the points more. The Reds were forced to settle for a point against the Red Devils - keeping them six points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim's side took the lead through Lisandro Martinez after a lacklustre opening hour with the Argentine firing into the roof of the net. However, Liverpool answered back through Cody Gakpo and a Mohamed Salah penalty in an 11-minute turnaround from the hosts.

However, the hosts couldn't manage to get a foothold in the game to see out an important win and the visitors found a way back through Amad.

United were underdogs going into the showdown but fought to dent the Reds hopes of moving eight points clear. Speaking after the draw, Fernandes said: "The position in the table says it all, we have lost too many points. We can't be happy with a draw because we need points more than they need them to be honest and obviously I think it's a really good result.

"We could have even won the game at the end but I think it's a fair result I think. Both teams played really good football, intense, some good chances from both sides but we can't be satisfied to be honest.

"I am pretty upset because if we showed this today at Anfield against Liverpool who are first in the league, that is probably the outstanding team in the Premier League this season, why we can't do this every week...

"It frustrates me because finally I think I did a proper performance overall and I think we need to be aware, we said it before the game, we need much more from ourselves to get something from this season.

"We need to put some pride out because it isn't enough for us."
