Bruno Guimaraes' stadium moment TV cameras missed that allows Newcastle United to dream big

Newcastle United skipper Bruno Guimaraes pushed the Magpies over the line with a dominant midfield display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As all hell threatened to break out at Spurs, with the home side battering Martin Dubravka's goal late on, Bruno waved his arms in the air to lift his players and then held a couple of pep talks to his team-mates around him. Quite clearly, Bruno is growing into the role of team captain by the game, and the star, who looked lost earlier in the season during some of his early games as skipper, has made a complete transformation as far as his form with the armband on is concerned.

When Newcastle needed some leadership and guidance in the closing stages against Spurs, they found it from their skipper. There were some groans from United fans as 10 minutes of stoppage time was displayed with Eddie Howe's team starting to flag.

And as 10 minutes of stoppages then spilled into another mystery additional period thanks to ref Andrew Madley, Newcastle looked like a team clinging on. It was at this stage that Bruno started using the ball intelligently and playing into the pockets before eventually working it into one of the corners.

Watching Newcastle legend Alan Shearer would have been proud at how the Magpies ate up some valuable seconds. Bruno said after the game: "We have now stepped up against two big teams (Man United and Spurs). This was massive.

"We have played very, very well both games. We are hopeful we can keep this up. There are still a lot of games to go, but if we can keep it up, we can achieve our goal."

And that goal is now looking clear and simple for the Magpies - a goal shared by the players and fans alike. As Newcastle fans left the stadium, they sang about Europe once again.

It was only last season that Geordies were swanning around Milan, Paris and Dortmund as if they belonged there. It may have felt like a short-lived stay in the Champions League, but they could soon be back if this continues.

Just as he had at Old Trafford in the final game of 2024, Bruno made his way over to the fans at Spurs and started whipping them up into a frenzy. Afterwards he paid tribute with Bruno adding: "We are nothing without our fans. They are part of football and we try to get them into the game.

"We know that when they are with us we can have an extra player. I think our fans have been very, very good since I signed for the club. I never have nothing bad to say about them. I always like to get them into the game."
