Manchester United have been told they were "all over the place" during Sunday's 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth.

Dean Huijsen put the Cherries 1-0 up from a set-piece in the first-half before Justian Kluviert converted a second-half penalty conceded by Noussair Mazraoui. Antoine Semenyo then added Bournemouth's third after a well-worked move.

The loss at Old Trafford was United's second 3-0 defeat to Andoni Iraola's team in consecutive seasons after losing by the same scoreline to Bournemouth on December 9 last year. It means the Reds will be in the bottom half of the table (13th) on Christmas Day for the first time since 1989.

And former Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown has highlighted where things went wrong for Ruben Amorim's side after Bournemouth netted their third goal of the afternoon.

”Wow. Incredible moment here at Old Trafford," he said on BBC Radio 5 Live. "Evanilson did so well, under pressure and he waits and he was composed.

"Evanilson slides a lovely pass and then from the left, Antoine Semenyo sweeps it in with his left foot. It was a well-worked goal. Manchester United are all over the place.”

After the full-time whistle, he added: "What an afternoon of football at Old Trafford. We knew Man Utd would be up against this Bournemouth side who are full of confidence.

"Man Utd contributed with chances, but didn't have the quality. It could have been more and what a performance from Bournemouth overall.

"We have seen Ruud van Nistelrooy get some results [under his interim tenure], but you cannot just turn it around quickly - it is going to take time here. Ruben Amorim has to stop making so many changes, he needs to find a system in a settled way.

"This is a big blow, this performance at this stage of the season has put a major negative effect back on something what was starting to look good under the new manager."

The Reds will now be looking to bounce back when they travel to relegation strugglers Wolves on Boxing Day (kick-off: 5:30pm). United will then host Newcastle at M16 on December 30 before travelling to Liverpool on January 5.
