Bukayo Saka should now be weeks rather than months away from returning to the Arsenal team.

The Gunners have gone without Saka since the winger tore the hamstring in his right leg - which required surgery - at Selhurst Park late last year. A dozen matches have passed since then, and Saka is stepping up his rehabilitation this month.

The 23-year-old will not return this month, but there is a good chance he will be back at some stage in March with the player pushing to make a comeback. Here is a football.london round-up of the latest updates on Saka's injury return.

Dubai return

Arsenal travelled to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday for a warm-weather mid-season training camp in Dubai with Saka among the travelling party. It represents the player's first real return to the group since his injury.

Saka also attended matches this month, including Aston Villa, Manchester City and the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur - all at the Emirates Stadium. He had not, though, been pictured at away games.

Training sessions also did not feature the winger. That, though, has changed in the Middle East to start this week, with Saka being present during an inside gym session on Monday.

Rehab update

On Monday afternoon, the club shared four photos of Saka working out, seemingly individually and away from his teammates, at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. In one image, he is catching tennis balls while testing the stability of his right leg, and in another is using a cable pulley machine with both arms.

Saka shared the same four pictures, including a candid one in which he is smiling broadly, on his Instagram account, captioning the post with an hourglass emoji. England international teammates Jude Bellingham and Noni Madueke were among those to like the post, which Saka also shared on his story without an additional caption.
