Bukayo Saka has reacted to Arsenal's 2-1 North London Derby victory against Tottenham after being spotted at the Emirates Stadium before the game. The Gunners secured a needed victory on Wednesday evening with Leandro Trossard scoring the goal that ultimately won the game.

Spurs captain Son Heung-min volleyed in the opener, but Arsenal equalised when Gabriel Magalhaes' header struck Dominic Solanke before nestling in the back of the net. Just a few minutes later, the hosts won possession back, with the ball eventually reaching Trossard, who fired past Antonin Kinsky.

At the full-time whistle, several players dropped to their knees in celebration, and it is fair to say that Saka also enjoyed the win. Reposting Arsenal's full-time graphic on Instagram, he simply responded with a winking face tongue emoji.

Though Mikel Arteta will have also been delighted with the win, his Arsenal side should have absolutely scored more with the absence of Saka in front of goal clearly taking its toll. Though three points were picked up here, that profligacy may be punished going forward, especially with Saka out for such an extended period.

"He had a procedure," Arteta revealed in late December just after Saka picked up a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace. "Everything went well. But unfortunately, he will be out for many, many weeks. I think it will be more than two months. I don't know exactly how much longer."

Fellow Hale End graduate Ethan Nwaneri initially replaced him on the right before injury struck him too. Gabriel Jesus was shifted out wide as a result, but the Brazil international looks set for an absence bigger than both Saka and Nwaneri after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Raheem Sterling was therefore required to start the derby, and though he was bright, he did struggle at the crucial moments, which further highlighted the need for an attacking addition.

"Yes, for sure, because we lost two big players - Bukayo could be out for three months, and Gabby is going to be out for a long time too," Arteta said when asked about signing a new forward. "We are going to try for sure. We are actively looking.

"We have lost two very important players; we have 14 players in the squad, and we play every three days. So, we will try, and let's see what we can get." While that can help in the short term, Arteta will be hoping Saka is back sooner than expected given his importance, but that still looks unlikely.

The 23-year-old was spotted on the touchline ahead of the game as the players warmed up, with TNT Sports also taking a video that showed he is still in need of crutches. Given the fact he is seemingly still struggling to walk without assistance, returning to any form of individual training looks some way off.
