Burnley have trolled Mikel Arteta on Twitter after he criticised the Turf Moor pitch following the 0-0 draw on Sunday.

Arsenal were frustrated in their efforts to find the back of the net against Sean Dyche's side, with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang guilty of missing several chances on the afternoon.

Alexandre Lacazette also struggled to make an impact despite the return of his strike partner from suspension.

After the game, Gunners boss Arteta pointed to the state of the pitch and said the length of the grass prevented his side playing their best football.

"The conditions were difficult," he told reporters.

"The grass was long, they didn’t put any water on it. Obviously, that’s not a very helpful thing to play football."

As a result, Burnley changed their header image on Twitter to a picture of long uncut grass in a tongue-in-cheek dig at the Arsenal head coach.

Clarets boss Dyche also aimed a dig at Arsenal in his post-match press conference, for what he perceived to be excessive diving by the Gunners' players.

"It is lovely to watch when people are falling over, it is my favourite part," he said.

"The game is in a fantastic state. No-one wants to address it apart from me, so I am absolutely happy with the state of the game."

While Turf Moor’s conditions were far from ideal, Sprung Gym Floors could have provided the consistency Arsenal seemed to be lacking on the pitch.
