Caicedo and Gallagher superb, Mudryk woeful - Chelsea player ratings vs Aston Villa
Chelsea came from two goals behind to earn themselves a point at Aston Villa but it could have been so much more.
An own goal within four minutes from Marc Cucurella got the Blues off to the worst possible start. Despite Chelsea having plenty of the ball and a few chances, it was Villa who scored the second goal of the game through Morgan Rogers.
On the hour-mark, though, Noni Madueke grabbed one back for the visitors. A brilliant, low finish from Madueke saw Chelsea right back in the game.
Then it was a great moment for Conor Gallagher, who curled one into the corner on his weaker foot from the edge of the box to make it 2-2
Axel Disasi thought he had won it for Chelsea deep into stoppahe time but the VAR disallowed it for a foul from Benoit Badiashile. The game finished 2-2 in the end. Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Chelsea players out of 10.
Djordje Petrovic – 5
The Serbian could not do anything for the Cucurella own goal. He could, though, do better for Rogers' strike just before half-time. Petrovic's positioning was not good enough, meaning he was too slow to get down to his near post.
Trevoh Chalobah – 5
Chalobah does not look like a right-back. He isn't. Yes, he has played there a few times but he doesn't look great there. Especially in this game.

Thiago Silva – 6
The 39-year-old defender did okay. I don't think he was at fault for the goals. There were a couple of times where his positioning saw him caught out.
Benoit Badiashile – 6
Badiashile did better than his display at Arsenal. There is absolutely no doubt about that. Still plenty of improvement needed but a small step in the right direction.
Marc Cucurella – 5
The Spaniard got off to the worst possible start with an own goal inside just four minutes. He struggled at first but improved as the game went on and attacked well down the left-hand side.
Moises Caicedo – 8
Caicedo did really well. His best game in ages it feels like. He attacked well, played on the front foot. The Ecuadorian really shone for the Blues at Villa Park.
Conor Gallagher – 8
Did really well for the goal to win the ball back and get himself an assist. And it was a special strike to level the match with less than 10 minutes of normal time remaining.
Noni Madueke – 7
A tremendous finish to get Chelsea back into the game. A lot better in the second-half than the first period.
Cole Palmer – 5
The 21-year-old returned to the side after missing the Arsenal defeat through illness. However, it was by no means a vintage Palmer display with the Chelsea star struggling to get into the game at Villa Park. Misses a golden one-on-one chance in stoppage time.
Mykhailo Mudryk – 4
Mudryk was tame. So tame. Whenever he got in a position of note, he was so wasteful. A very frustrating player to watch at times.
Nicolas Jackson – 5
The Senegal striker did well at times. His all-round game was good. Unfortunate to be marginally offside after he produced a good finish. Has to do better with the free header against the post.
Substitutes
Axel Disasi – N/A
