Caitlin Clark won't participate in NBA All-Star 3-point contest: Report
Caitlin Clark will not be taking part in a special 3-point shootout during NBA All-Star weekend, reports ESPN's Shams Charania.
Sports Business Journal reported Tuesday that Clark was "disinclined" to participate in a 3-point contest that reportedly could involve Sabrina Ionescu, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Last year, Ionescu joined Curry for an inaugural WNBA vs. NBA 3-point challenge, which the Warriors star narrowly won.
Clark "wants her first 3-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer," according to her representatives at Excel Sports, per Sharania. Indianapolis will host WNBA All-Star weekend in July.
Last year, Clark did not participate in the WNBA's 3-point competition, but was part of the WNBA All-Star team that upset Team USA in Phoenix.
It's been a busy year and a half for Clark between her final college season and first pro one with the Indiana Fever, and she clearly wanted a break from basketball. She declined to participate in the new 3x3 league Unrivaled, currently running in Miami with more than 30 other WNBA stars.
But that doesn't mean Clark has kept a totally low profile. Since the Fever's season ended in the first round of the WNBA playoffs, Clark has participated in a pro-am golf tournament and joined Taylor Swift to watch a Kansas City Chiefs playoff game. On Sunday, she'll be back in Iowa City to have her jersey retired.
