Nottingham Forest are unsure whether winger Callum Hudson-Odoi will be fit for next weekend’s clash with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The wide man was not included in the match squad as the Reds suffered a 5-0 thumping away to Bournemouth. He had been forced off in last Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton with a groin problem.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says Hudson-Odoi will be assessed ahead of the meeting with the Seagulls at the City Ground next Saturday. But the Portuguese is uncertain whether the 24-year-old will have recovered by then.

“He was not available for today. We still have to assess for the next one,” Nuno said.

“We cannot be sure that he is going to be available. He has pain in his adductor. It has been really stiff.

“The medical department tried everything they could but for today it was impossible. Let’s see for the next one.”

Forest had gone in at the break one goal down to the Cherries after Justin Kluivert’s early strike. Nikola Milenkovic had an opportunity to make it 1-1 after the interval but saw his header saved. A Dango Ouattara hat-trick and one from Antoine Semenyo then made it an afternoon to forget for the Reds.

The Reds had been unbeaten in nine games in all competitions prior to the clash at the Vitality Stadium. But Nuno was left to rue a “bad day” all round as his team put in a poor performance as they crashed to defeat.
