Caoimhin Kelleher's future Liverpool transfer 'stance' as Arne Slot 'eyes' ex-Man United target
Arne Slot would be forgiven for not wanting to upset the apple cart at Liverpool after a fine first half of the season. When he arrived, the Dutchman would have scarcely believed it if you were to tell him that not only would his new club be top at Christmas but they would hold such a commanding lead.
Liverpool sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League following Arsenal's victory over Ipswich Town and Chelsea's defeat to Fulham. Couple this with a confidence-boosting 3-1 win against Leicester City, and it has so far been a Merry Christmas for the Merseyside club.
However, it is true that no great side sits back and rests on their laurels. That is why there are reports surrounding who Liverpool may sell or buy in the upcoming transfer windows. The ECHO has taken a closer look at what is being said.

Kelleher 'ready to leave'
According to TEAMtalk, back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is ready to leave Anfield in the summer in search of regular football. The Irishman has been a superb second-choice shot-stopper but has struggled to uproot Alisson Becker when both players are fit.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to arrive in the summer, and there are currently believed to be no plans to send him out on loan, so that could potentially knock Kelleher back to third choice. It is understood that Newcastle are showing a keen interest in Kelleher to be their No.1 after Nick Pope has struggled with injuries this season.
The Magpies are also thought to be keeping a close eye on Burnley's James Trafford, so that option may not be guaranteed for Kelleher.
Liverpool 'looking at De Jong'
Journalist Rudy Galetti reports that Liverpool would be interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong amidst the Catalan club's ongoing financial difficulties. It is thought that Hansi Flick's side would be willing to sell the Dutchman at a cut price in the summer transfer window.
Such a move would reportedly appeal to the Reds, but they would need De Jong to lower his wage to complete the move. The Dutch midfielder was previously a target for Manchester United during Erik ten Hag's first summer at Old Trafford.
Eventually, United pulled out of the deal after feeling as though they were being led on by the La Liga giants.
