Four clubs are left in the battle to qualify for the 2024-25 Carabao Cup final, having already played the first instalments of the two-legged semi-finals. The tournament began back on Aug 13 and ultimately included all 72 EFL and 20 Premier League clubs in a knock-out format to win the 65th staging of the competition which was originally launched as the League Cup in 1960 and has been known, as well as taking the title of its sponsor, as the EFL Cup for the past nine.

Three of the four semi-finalists, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal, by dint of qualification for Europe, have each won three ties to make it to the semi-finals, while Newcastle began a round earlier. Liverpool have dispatched West Ham, Brighton and Southampton; Tottenham accounted for Coventry before completing a Mancunian double over City and United; Arsenal defeated Bolton, Preston and Crystal Palace and Newcastle knocked out Nottingham Forest on penalties, AFC Wimbledon, Chelsea and Brentford.

The first legs of the semi-finals were held on Jan 7 and Jan 8 and ended with Newcastle beating Arsenal 2-0 at Emirates Stadium and Tottenham securing a late 1-0 home victory over Premier League leaders Liverpool.
