Cardiff City loan star Joel Colwill departs Cheltenham Town for League One move with Exeter City
Joel Colwill has played his last game for Cheltenham Town, Gloucestershire Live understands.
The Cardiff City loan midfielder is set to be recalled ahead of a move to League One Exeter City for the second half of the season.
He has scored nine goals in all competitions for the Robins this season and boss Michael Flynn hopeful of retaining him for the duration, but his parent club are keen to test him at a higher level before he returns to challenge for a place in their first team.
Colwill, 20, scored twice on his debut in the 3-2 home win over Newport County AFC on the opening day of the campaign.
He also netted two in the FA Cup first round win at League One Rotherham United, the winner at home to Tranmere Rovers and another double in the Boxing Day victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Cheltenham will have four loans left in their squad following Colwill's departure, so another temporary addition is expected this month, along with one or two permanent signings.
Sam Stubbs, Lewis Payne and newcomers from Brentford Val Adedokun and Ashley Hay are club's the current loanees, with five permitted in a matchday squad.
Flynn's side play AFC Wimbledon away in League Two on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
Colwill will not be able to play for new loan club Exeter against Oxford United in the FA Cup third round as he is cup-tied.
