Premier League sides Leicester City and Southampton and Championship high-flyers Leeds United are chasing Cardiff City winger Ollie Tanner, according to reports.

Football Insider state the trio, along with second tier outfit Burnley, are keeping tabs on the attacker.

Tanner, 22, has been in good form so far this term and has made 15 starts in all competitions and 25 appearances in total for the Bluebirds. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

The same report states the Cardiff City Stadium side would be reluctant to part company with the wideman, who has garnered something of a cult status among the fanbase, notably for his derby heroics against Swansea City last season.

Tanner is under contract in the Welsh capital until June 2027, meaning the Bluebirds are relatively well placed when it comes to their bargaining position.

Meanwhile, Bluebirds legend Nathan Blake reckons City still need more bodies through the door if they are to escape the clutches of relegation this term. Danish striker Yousef Salech has arrived for the princely sum of £3million, but Blake feels further additions are needed.

"Yes, I think so, I do," Blake told Radio Wales Sport.

"The Championship is such a long season and such a hard season. It only takes two or three injures and all of a sudden the subs' bench is looking really bare, and people are saying 'our squad isn't strong enough'.

"Don't get me wrong, I don't think you need 30-odd players, but if you've got 25 quality first-team players right from one to 25, I think it's a huge help in a 46-game season."

It's Derby County up next for City, and Rams boss Paul Warne is expecting a tough game but one he has earmarked three points from.

"I do honestly think that there isn't a great deal between any of the teams in this league," he said.

"I've got massive respect for Sunderland, and I didn't think that they were significantly better than us. You do have to beat the teams in and around you, that is obvious. I don't think it's easier or harder opposition than a Sunderland or a Watford away, it's just a different opposition, and they will see this game as one that they will pen down as a home win as well. It will be two teams needing a win and wanting a win going head-to-head.

"Both teams have got new players in their squad, so it will make it an interesting game. It is one that we have earmarked, and we want to come away with three points - but then we have been every game in the last six. It is an important fixture.

"We have played a lot of top teams and I think we have competed well in large parts of it. I've said that a few times now. We have to perform for the full match, and unfortunately for us the other night, we didn't perform at our best for the entirety."
