Cardiff City winger targeted for loan move by Newport County

Promising Cardiff City winger Tanatswa Nyakuhwa is the subject of loan interest from Newport County, WalesOnline understands.

The Exiles had been interested in Bluebirds striker Michael Reindorf, however it is understood that Notts County have won the race for the 19-year-old's signature.

Newport have had to pivot and it is understood that Nyakuhwa is one of the options on the table and the Wales youth international could complete a move to Rodney Parade before Monday's deadline. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here

Nyakuhwa is a Wales youth international and can operate on either wing. He was reportedly of interest to Belgian giants Anderlecht earlier in the window, however he is thought of highly by Cardiff, who want to keep him and see him develop on loan.

There are also reports in Belgium that Anderlecht could come in for the talented wide player in the summer window.

The Bluebirds academy product, who also qualifies for Zimbabwe, was one of the standout players for Cardiff on Saturday during their 3-2 win over Premier League Everton, producing a stunning assist for Luke Pearce's goal with the outside of his boot.
