Carlisle bare-knuckle boxing champion Danny Christie is getting back in the ring for a big fight in April.

The former BKFC fighter from Currock will take on Brett May in Barnsley.

The fight will be part of the Bad To The Bone BKB show at Barnsley Metrodome on Saturday, April 19.

Christie recently confirmed his retirement from the major BKFC promotion, in which he had been the British light-heavyweight champion.

He will now face Doncaster heavyweight May in a contest of three two-minute rounds in May’s native Yorkshire.

Organiser Stefan Albert Hanks said the fight will promise a “five-figure purse” which will see the winner take 60 per cent and the loser 40 per cent.

“Everybody wants to see a shootout,” he said.

Hanks, speaking on Instagram, said the fight will be on catchweight terms, in which a fighter can move up or down a weight.

He said Christie will make cruiserweight while May has agreed to drop at least 10lbs.

A BMF title will be on the line.

Announcing the fight, the Bad To The Bone promotion said: “No more talking – it’s time for action. Two men, one ring, and the purest form of combat in 4oz mma gloves.”

Christie, from Carlisle, made a big impact on the BKFC scene from 2022 to 2024.

The 40-year-old won five fights and suffered two defeats, along the way winning the UK light-heavyweight title by defeating Anthony Holmes.

Later Christie moved to middleweight and earned a shot at the world title, where he was beaten by reigning American champion David Mundell.
