Tyler Burey's time at Carlisle United is set to come to an end.

Head coach Mike Williamson has confirmed that the Blues will not be looking to extend Burey's short-term contract.

The former Millwall man's deal is up on January 18.

Williamson said Burey will continue to train with the squad in order to maintain his fitness before he moves on.

But the 23-year-old, who was Williamson's first signing, will leave the Cumbrians after 11 appearances.

Burey joined as a free agent in October after a spell with Danish club Odense.

The decision on his future comes amid a busy period of January transfer window recruitment at Brunton Park.

Carlisle have signed five players already this month with more expected to join.

Burey has mostly been used in the right wing-back position during his time at Brunton Park and United are expected to strengthen in wide positions before the end of the month.

The Burey decision follows the recent announcement that Ben Williams would also be moving on as his deal expires this month.

Williamson said: "He [Burey] wants to continue coming in to keep his sharpness.

"I want to put on record with Tyler and Ben our biggest thanks for everything they've given to the football club.

"But with the recruitment and things going on, we feel as though the game time would be not what they require.

"We're obviously looking to bring in more players, as Rob [Clarkson, sporting director] alluded to at Tuesday's fans' forum.

"If it was up to us, we'd be happy to keep people around, but it's not really fair for them.

"Tyler's coming in, he's training, he's keeping fresh for something else, but we'll be moving forward."

Carlisle remain in talks aimed at extending Kadeem Harris's stay at Brunton Park.

Harris's current deal runs out later this month and Williamson is optimistic an agreement can be struck to retain the former Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday man.
