Teenage Carlisle United prospect Dan Hopper will spend the rest of the season with Penrith.

The 17-year-old recently enjoyed a month's spell with Darren Edmondson's Northern League Division One side.

And now the Blues have confirmed that Hopper will return to Penrith for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign on another work experience deal.

The promising home-grown player has made a positive impact in his time at Penrith so far.

He scored four goals in five appearances for the Bonny Blues in league and cup.

Two of those came in a 2-1 derby win against Carlisle City, with Hopper also scoring against Northallerton Town and Whickham.

His new deal with Penrith comes in time for Hopper to feature in their rematch with Carlisle City.

The two Cumbrian clubs are due to face one another on Tuesday night at Gillford Park in a game which has had to be rearranged from previous weather-enforced postponements.

Hopper, the son of the late Carlisle United and Workington Reds favourite Tony Hopper, is developing under his father's former team-mates Edmondson and Richard Prokas at Frenchfield Park.

Dan made his first-team United debut earlier this season in an EFL Trophy tie against Wigan Athletic.

He also starred in the Blues' run in the FA Youth Cup, scoring in United's extra-time defeat to Plymouth Argyle in the third round, having also netted in the first round win at Altrincham.
