Carlisle United midfielder Guy set for more 'tests' over illness
Mike Williamson says Callum Guy is set for more medical tests over the illness the Carlisle United midfielder is suffering from.
The Blues head coach says that Guy is going through a “really tough time”.
While United have not gone into specifics on the condition Guy is battling, Williamson said the 28-year-old is facing further investigation in a bid to get his health back on track.
The United boss also expressed his best wishes and support to Guy and his family.
“He’s going through a really tough time,” Williamson told the News & Star.
“I sat with the doc[tor] and he was about to see him [on Tuesday].
“So I think there's going to be a little bit more investigation.
“I can't really shed any light [in terms of detail] except it's a really tough time.
“We've really got to just give him and his family our best, and the club wish him all the best and hopefully he has a speedy recovery.”
Williamson said Guy was set to undergo further “scans and tests”, the player having been out of action since mid-December.
The United boss said the midfielder had recently “had signs of feeling better, but then he's taken a bit of a turn.”
Williamson added that he did not want to “speculate” about anything regarding Guy’s illness.
The influential and popular midfielder, who has been with United for five years, has made ten appearances this season, having returned to action in October after 11 months out with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury.
