Teenage Carlisle United prospect Jake Allan has rejoined Workington Reds on loan.

The 18-year-old has returned to Borough Park for a third spell.

Allan's latest work experience loan will see him remain with Mark Fell's side for the rest of the season.

He could be in Fell's squad for Saturday's home clash with Stockton Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Allan, along with Sam Hetherington and Aran Fitzpatrick, spent an earlier spell this season with the west Cumbrian club.

But he was recalled in December as injuries and illness hit the Blues.

Now, following a big January recruitment drive, United boss Mike Williamson is content to allow Allan to head back out to gain first-team experience.

Allan made two first-team appearances for Carlisle this campaign, both in the EFL Trophy - the first of which saw him score his first senior goal in the 2-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest Under-21s.

The third-year scholar is the latest in a series of players to head out of Brunton Park on a temporary basis.

Friday also saw Freddie O'Donoghue join Carlisle City on a month-long work experience deal. City face a trip to Redcar Athletic in Northern League Division One today.

And Taylor Charters is in line for his Queen of the South debut when Peter Murphy's Doonhamers head to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Scottish League One.

O'Donoghue's fellow youth team player Dan Hopper, meanwhile, recently extended his own work experience loan at Penrith until the end of the season. Darren Edmondson's Northern League Division One side host Boro Rangers today.

From the senior ranks, meanwhile, Luke Armstrong will hope to make his second Motherwell loan appearance at home to Celtic on Sunday.
