Carlisle United's plans amid the big freeze
Mike Williamson says Carlisle United are doing all they can to prepare for MK Dons despite the effects of the freezing weather this week.
Sub-zero temperatures have forced the Blues to adapt some of their training plans.
Carlisle have trained on 4G pitches this week, although even some of those facilities have been weather affected, whilst they have also been making use of the indoor Neil Sports Centre and the club’s gym facilities at Brunton Park.
Pre-match analysis has also continued as Williamson and the players do their best to adjust to the big freeze, in the hope that Saturday’s game will be on.
“The weather is just something else to work around,” said Williamson.
“We've had a group in the gym, we've had a group in the meeting room, in the theatre and then we've had a group in the Neil Centre doing everything we possibly can.
“It’s a case of making sure we're not doing too much on the surface but that we're getting good load, and the physical preparation in, the detail in, and we're trying to learn as much as we possibly can from our last performance and we're prepared for MK.”
Carlisle have had the pitch at Brunton Park covered but the game could be at the mercy of the elements amid the sub-zero temperatures. Details of any pitch inspection have yet to be confirmed by United.
Williamson says he, his coaches and the players are preparing for the game to be on but they will have a plan should the weather intervene.
“We’ll have a plan B just with structure, but not with our plans in terms of our focus,” he said.
“As professionals, until it's officially off, you just have to make sure that we do all of our watching and give the lads as much information as we can to arm them as best we possibly can.
“The strength and conditioning team and coaches will have a plan if it doesn't go ahead.”
