Carlos Alcaraz closing in on Everton loan as Flamengo announcement made
Everton are reportedly closing in on what would be a first signing of the January transfer window. The club is working with Brazilian side Flamengo over a loan move for the attacking midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.
The 22-year-old has Premier League experience - an asset coveted by Blues boss David Moyes as he seeks reinforcements to help prevent Everton from sliding into a fourth consecutive relegation battle.
Alcaraz made 19 top flight appearances for Southampton, scoring four goals and providing two assists as the club battled, ultimately unsuccessfully, against the drop two years ago.

The attacker left the south coast for Juventus before joining Flamengo, who took to social media on Friday night to confirm a loan deal was being discussed with Everton. The club said the deal included an obligation for Everton to make the move permanent should certain criteria be met.
While a deal is not yet believed to have been finalised, Everton are understood to hold an interest in the player. Alcaraz can play out wide and up top and would offer important versatility for Moyes as he attempts to navigate an injury crisis in his first months since returning to Everton.
