Carlos Corberan is hoping not to be stung by another free kick masterclass from set piece specialist Scott Twine this weekend.

Twine, now at Bristol City, struck late on in January 2023 to seal a come from behind win against West Brom with a trademark free kick.

And worryingly he is in form as he struck with his first touch against QPR last weekend. And, you guessed it, it was from a free kick.

Asked about the threat he possesses, Corberan said: "Scott Twine is a specialist. He scored against us when he was at Burnley. You remember the game that we lost away. One of the last minutes or 87, something like this.

"So we know. But normally every team has a specialist. It is true that Twine is one of these players that can do this. In League One, when he was on loan (at MK Dons) he was scoring many goals and many were free kicks.

"In general in football you need to avoid unnecessary fouls and when the free kick is close to the goal, you need to see solutions that you can have to create problems for the taker. For example, now we are using a player on the floor."

On the challenge they pose as a whole, Corberan said: "They play very good football. I like how they play a lot. I think Liam (Manning), the coach, has done amazing work. It is a club with some young players, they have made good investment too. If someone expects an easy game or whatever, it is totally wrong. Bristol City is a team that demands a lot of you."
