Castleford Tigers have provided an injury update on three first-team players ahead of Friday night's pre-season game against Wakefield Trinity. The Tigers are in action for Luke Gale's testimonial match, with the latest given on Rowan Milnes, Sam Hall, and Louis Senior.

As exclusively reported by Rugby League Live earlier this month, Milnes has a knee injury and is roughly four weeks into his rehab, with an early season return anticipated. Elsewhere, Hall has a long-term issue with his shoulder that will rule him out until the latter part of the season, with Senior recovering from a quad problem, although no concrete timeline can be predicted for the winger.

Posting a full update with club doctor Nick Raynor, Castleford have come back from a warm-weather camp in Spain, which saw them take on Valencia Hurricanes, in 'excellent shape' after an 'intense and highly productive' training regime. No further injuries have been picked up, with the club providing an update on the trio.

On Milnes, Castleford wrote: "Roman Milnes is now four weeks into his rehabilitation from a knee injury and is progressing well. We’re optimistic he’ll be back on the field in the early rounds of the Super League season, which is great news for both Rowan and the team."

On Hall, they put: "Sam Hall sustained a complex nerve injury in his shoulder during a match against Salford last season, which required surgery. While this type of injury typically involves a longer recovery period, Sam is making steady progress, and we are hopeful to see him back in action toward the back end of the season."

On Senior, they added: "Louis Senior suffered a significant, complex quadriceps tear in May last year, also requiring surgical intervention. While the complexity of the injury makes it difficult to provide precise timescales, we’re confident he’ll be back by the midpoint of the season and are aiming for an even earlier return if possible."

Raynor also commented on the players' recoveries, with the club working hard to get the trio back into selection. He said: "It’s fantastic to see the squad come through such an intense and demanding pre-season in great shape. Rowan is making excellent progress, and it’s great to see him on track for an early return.

"For our two long-term players, Sam and Louis, both have faced rare and complex injuries sustained last season, but their positivity and commitment to their rehab have been excellent. Our physiotherapy team is working closely with them to ensure the best possible outcomes."

Castleford are also in action against Hull FC on February 1 for Joe Westerman's testimonial match. They begin their competitive season with Challenge Cup action, heading to the winner of Bradford vs. Doncaster in the third round."
