Jeffrey Schlupp might be staying in the UK despite overtures from MLS - but he won't be heading to the Championship.

The 32-year-old Crystal Palace flyer has been linked with Stoke City, Coventry and Blackburn during the transfer window but it seemed most likely that he would head to the United States, where there was reported interest from San Diego.

Instead, the Sun's Alan Nixon claims he could make a late switch to Celtic as "Brendan Rodgers wants the versatile star to join his squad for the title run in and Champions League push".

Sunderland plot £10m raid on Leicester

Sunderland are hoping to tie up a loan deal for Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns this evening but they have also apparently put in a big money bid for Leicester's Kasey McAteer.

The Athletic claims that Sunderland have had a loan bid with obligation to buy turned down. It was reported to be worth about £8 million plus a further £2m in additional clauses.

They add: “Sunderland are expected to return with another offer while Leicester search for a replacement."

Derby look to help from Everton

Derby County are said to be keen on Everton's teenager playmaking midfielder Harrison Armstrong. According to Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers, the Rams are in talks with the midfielder over a potential loan deal until the end of the season.

With Everton set to wrap up a move for Carlos Alcaraz today, that is set to allow Armstrong to leave Goodison Park. The 18-year-old has had a number of admirers in the second tier with the teenager highly-regarded by Everton's hierarchy.

Pilgrims eye up Boateng

Plymouth Argyle are interested in signing 22-year-old defensive midfielder Malachi Boateng on a permanent deal from Scottish Premiership side Hearts, Plymouth Live understands. He is a Crystal Palace academy product and is the younger brother of former Argyle player Hiram Boateng.

Boateng has made 14 starts and six substitute appearances for Hearts in the Scottish Premiership this season. Argyle want to add to their central midfield options, which are currently limited to Adam Randell, Jordan Houghton and Darko Gyabi.

Swans set for late scramble

Swansea City are in for a frantic final few hours of the window, report WalesOnline.

The club are weighing up a possible loan move for former Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, but could potentially face competition given they are by no means alone in the chase for his signature.

A winger is also high on the wishlist, with the club already missing out on Southampton's Sam Amo-Ameyaw, who instead looks to be set for a move to French side Strasbourg, and they are hopeful of signing midfielder Lewis O'Brien on loan, as well as Manchester city youth midfielder
