Celtic re-establish title lead as James Forrest double spares Adam Idah Dundee blushes

It's on days like this one where champions are really made as Celtic discovered away to Dundee.

The Hoops have had and will have their fair share of convincing, comfortable, dare we say easy afternoons in the Scottish Premiership this season where everything will click. At Dens Park today, though, this was NOT one of those games. It was a nervy, sticky, sloppy 90 plus minutes of football where Brendan Rodgers' troops did what they had to do to pick up the three points and maintain their three point lead at the top of the division.

That rivals Rangers won away to St Mirren earlier in the day made it an even more dramatic day where James Forrest's brace won the day and kept Celts with their noses in front.

It was a stunning strike from the winger to give his side the lead from a Kyogo flick that was either a beautiful piece of skill or a dismal first touch. It didn't bother Forrest or his teammates, though. He lashed a brilliant volley into the bottom right-hand corner.

In fairness, the action was few and far between from both sides before Forrest struck again in the second-half. Poor defending from the hosts would see the ball fall to the 32-year-old's feet inside the area and his effort drilled between the legs of goalkeeper Jon McCracken.

Celts might have felt comfortable until an Adam Idah own goal - from an initial Antonio Portales shot - sliced into Joe Hart's net. But as it was, they managed to hold out beyond five minutes of injury time to see themselves through and to remain top of the tree.
