The defiant Green Brigade have responded to Brendan Rodgers’ scolding for singing Kieran Tierney’s name - by dusting off a host of anthems about former stars.

The boss hit out at the Parkhead punters with a furious defence of Greg Taylor following the win over St Mirren as he accused them of “disrespect" after the name of the outgoing Arsenal star was chanted during the Scottish Premiership clash. It comes with mounting speculation over the boyhood Hoops’ fan making his return to Glasgow’s east end from the Emirates. He is now free to agree a pre-contract exit from the Premier League giants and could even rejoin the Scottish champions this month.

The firm response from Rodgers after last weekend’s game has been picked up by the Celtic ultras group and they chanted about Hoops icon Henrik Larsson first before belting out a tune for Scott Sinclair. There was then a madcap rendition of pleas for Paddy McCourt to remain at Celtic - despite the now-retired winger leaving back in 2013. Stuart Armstrong also got a mention in the old classics from the Celtic Park stands - before Jonny Hayes, Mulgrew, Artur Boruc and Jota all got a shout out. Jota, of course, is also wanted by fans for a fairytale return to Glasgow with the winger enduring a miserable time at Rennes.

But did Kieran Tierney get his mention? Well, he did close to the end of proceedings. But the boss took it all in good spirits.
