Celtic leapfrogged in Lowland League as East Kilbride boss says best is yet to come from defending champions
East Kilbride marked the halfway point in the Lowland League by returning to the top of the table – and boss Mick Kennedy warned he expects his side to be even better in 2025.
Kilby defeated Celtic B 2-0 at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium on Saturday thanks to first-half goals from Jamie Hamilton and Cami Elliott and backed that up on Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over Broomhill, courtesy of doubles from Nathan Flanagan and Jack Leitch.
Kilby are now three points clear of both the Hoops and third-place Caledonian Braves, who have played one game more.

With Kennedy’s men now at the midway point in their title defence, he is delighted to sit at the summit again and says the best is yet to come.
Kennedy said: "That’s us at the halfway point and we are top of the league so I’m happy.
“The thing is, I think we will get stronger in the second part of the season and we are already in a good place.
“We’ll have players back after Christmas. I think Broque Watson is the only one who has been out long-term that is back running, but if he is not back this side of Christmas, he will be back in January, so we will be back to full strength at the start of next year.
“We know nothing has been won yet. We want to get through the Christmas period and see where we are. I don’t get too excited at this stage. It’s the end of the season you evaluate and see how many trophies you’ve got.
“Even though Caley Braves were sitting top a few weeks ago, I was always fairly confident we would be top or thereabouts come this time of the season, and that’s what’s happened.
“Now, it is about having a level of consistency. When I look back at the games we’ve dropped points in, we were down to 9 and 10 men. If we had 11 on the pitch I’m confident we would have won them.”
Kilby now welcome 14th-place Berwick Rangers on Saturday.
Kennedy added: “If you are going to win the league, you need to be winning your home games.
“I know we had a strong performance at Berwick away [7-1] but they have improved since then so I’m sure they will make it difficult for us.”
