Celtic suffer fresh injury blow ahead of Aston Villa clash as three ruled out
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Cameron Carter-Vickers will be unavailable to face Aston Villa on Wednesday night due to injury.
The centre-back has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season and captained Rodgers' side on a couple of occasions too. James Forrest also remains sidelined, while the Scottish champions will be without Daizen Maeda through suspension.
"Carter-Vickers is out for the game," Rodgers confirmed in the press conference. "He felt something in the last game, so there’s no need to risk him. James is still out, but apart from that we are OK."

"It’s a brilliant game and it’s a great achievement to be in the top 24," he added. "The players have been fantastic and have stuck with my ideas and what we have set out to do. The job is not complete in this league phase. We come to this great venue against a fantastic team and we want to play to the level we want to."
On top of injuries and suspensions, Celtic lost Kyogo Furuhashi to Stade Rennais earlier this week. They have re-signed forward Jota from the French club, but he will be unavailable to play as new signings can't be registered before the knockout rounds.
Villa are expected to be without Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana, while Tyrone Mings is a doubt after suffering a knee problem in the 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday. The 31-year-old did not come out for training with the rest of his teammates at Bodymoor Heath on Tuesday afternoon.
